  2. Who is the target group of Protectorion?
    Protectorion is suitable for anyone who wants to keep their data safe, and at the same time edit and manage it.
  3. What kind of files can I manage with Protectorion?
    Protectorion can manage all types of files.
  4. How can I be sure that Protectorion does not contain any harmful software?
    It goes without saying that Protectorion is free of any malware, such as viruses, Trojans, adware or spyware. Get Protectorion and updates exclusively from our website or well-known download sites such as Download.com. All Software on Download.com has been tested to ensure it's free of spyware, viruses and other malware. Do not download software from unknown sources! This software can be harmful and can contain viruses! Security and Functions

  1. What is considered a safe password?
    Use a password with plenty of capital and lower case letters, special characters and numbers.
  2. Will my Protectorion password be saved somewhere?
    No, for security reasons your password is not saved.
  3. I forgot my access code, what should I do?
    If you forget or lose your password, access to your data is no longer possible. We cannot help you in this case. For security reasons you are the only person who knows your password.
  4. How are my data encrypted?
    Protectorion uses the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a key depth of 256 bit for the encryption of your data. AES is recognized as secure standard for encryption.
  5. Can I also use Protectorion on my USB flash drive or my external hard drive?
    Yes, install Protectorion directly on the USB flash drive or on the external hard drive (install wizard in main menu Extras). Protectorion automatically establishes a directory, in which all data are saved with encryption, on the USB flash drive or hard drive. You can then start Protectorion on your flash drive or external hard disk and use Protectorion on any computer.
  6. Can I also copy data directly from one Protectorion to another?
    Yes, if both programs are open. You can easily drag or copy and paste data from one Protectorion to the other.
  7. Can I change my access code later?
    Yes, you can change your access code at any time.

  1. On which operating systems will Protectorion run?
    Protectorion will run on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
  2. What hardware is required?
    At least: 1 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM
    Recommended: 2 GHz processor or higher, 2 GB RAM or more
  3. Why is the free .NET Framework 3.0 or higher required?
    Protectorion was programmed in C# and therefore needs the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.0 or higher. The .NET Framework is already integrated in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
    In Windows XP SP1 and SP2 it can be necessary to download and install the Service Pack 3. Afterward the .NET Framework from Microsoft can be downloaded and installed. You can obtain the .NET Framework 3.0 free of purchase here: Download .NET-Framework
  4. Where are my data stored in Protectorion?
    You can use the directory display in Protectorion to see the storage location of every file and folder in Protectorion. From your operating system you can browse and open the Protectorion storage location at any time.
  5. Will my data be deleted in Protectorion, if I uninstall the program?
    No, but you can delete the Protectorion data at any time in Windows by deleting the Protectorion folder.
  6. What happens to my data in Protectorion, if I install an update of Protectorion?
    In this case your data in Protectorion stay unchanged. You can continue to work with your data after the update.
  7. Can I use Protectorion also in a network?
    Yes, you can copy Protectorion on a Microsoft™ file server and use it there.
  8. What does the error message the maximum path length has been exceeded mean?
    Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 use the file system NTFS, which allows a maximum path length of 255 characters. Therefore directories and file names with a total length of more than 255 characters is also not possible in Protectorion.
